Strengthening Civic Engagement for a Green and Digital Europe: The Core Mission of EARTH-2030
The central objective of the EARTH-2030 initiative is to enhance civic participation and foster meaningful local engagement in support of the European Union’s twin transition—towards a climate-neutral and digitally inclusive future. Rooted in the values of sustainability, solidarity, and democratic involvement, the project actively mobilizes citizens and communities across Europe to become agents of change.
At the core of the initiative is a high-impact, three-day event that serves as both a knowledge hub and a catalyst for action. This event is carefully designed to raise awareness of climate-related challenges, promote responsible and sustainable food systems, and address the persistent issue of digital exclusion. Special emphasis is placed on empowering individuals from vulnerable, rural, and underrepresented backgrounds. Through targeted activities, participants gain access to practical tools, new knowledge, and greater awareness of available EU funding and cooperation opportunities.
Beyond individual empowerment, EARTH-2030 places strong focus on institutional collaboration. It brings together local authorities, civil society organizations, and grassroots community actors from five EU Member States—Greece, Croatia, Slovenia, Spain, and Romania. By facilitating the exchange of best practices and promoting transnational dialogue, the project cultivates a cooperative framework that strengthens policy alignment and innovation at the local level.
A unique feature of EARTH-2030 is its town twinning component, which reinforces the project’s trans-European character. Through this mechanism, municipalities are not merely linked administratively but are united in a shared mission of dialogue, solidarity, and co-creation. This dimension embeds the principles of European unity into every action, helping build a collective identity anchored in inclusion, sustainability, and active citizenship.
Ultimately, EARTH-2030 aspires to leave a lasting legacy by building resilient communities, promoting democratic participation, and advancing Europe’s transformation into a greener, fairer, and more connected Union.
